During October we have been celebrating Black History Month at Cyril Jackson. On the last day before half term we had an assembly so that each year group could show off what they'd learnt.
We were treated to some excellent drumming at the start of the assembly.
The whole school sing our Black History Month song, Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.
Year 1 read us a poem about Anansi the spider.
Year 3 put on a performance telling as all about Mahatma Gandhi and his policy of non-violent protest.
Year 4 told us all about apartheid and Nelson Mandella.
Year 5 looked at refugees and made and excellent film from the eyes of a refugee child.
Year 6 wrote some of their own I Have A Dream speeches.
Year 6 imagined what it must have been like to be aboard a slave ship.
Nurture 2 & 3 made a presentation about segregation in the US.
