Black History Month
‘Black History Month’ at Cyril Jackson is an opportunity for children to explore other cultures from around the world and learn about significant events and people that have helped to shape the way that we live our life today.
Throughout the month your children will have the opportunity to explore an element of Black History through their Literacy work and each year group will either be going out on a trip or having a visitor in to support the work that they are doing.
At the end of the month on the 23rd of October their will be a celebration in the south building hall, where each year group will have the opportunity to share what they have been learning about in class. There will also be an after school exhibition where children will be displaying their ‘Black History month’ inspired art work and best writing. Please come and join us for both of these events, dates and times will be confirmed closer to the time.
Further to this, there are many free ‘Black history month’ family events going on in Tower Hamlets throughout October. Make sure you take advantage of them!
